Pak Siregar is currently the Chairman of Subud Indonesia and will be the man in charge
of guiding Subud Indonesia through its preparation for the Subud World Congress due to be held in Kalimantan in 2001.
The following account appeared in the August edition of Subud Voice.
Pak Siregar was born in North Sumatra in 1939, is married with 3 children and has 6 grandchildren. He graduated from the Economics Faculty, University of Indonesia in 1963 and did post graduate studies at Chicago, Indiana and Vanderbilt Universities in the USA. He worked as a staff member of BAPPENAS, the National Planning Body of Indonesia from 1969- 1988. Later, he worked as a researcher for the National Inst. of Economics and the Community, from 1964 to 1972 with the Indonesian Inst. of Science. He became Head of Research and Development, and was also Secretary General of the Dept. of Transport from 1992 to 1998. He has also held offices as: Manager of the Advisory Board for an international satellite telecommunications company - INDOSAT, and for GARUDA Indonesia. Recently, in 1999, he became President of the Advisory Board of MERPATI NUSANTARA Airlines, and he continues with this work until the present time. He has written books on economics, transport and development including: Matters relating to the Economy and Freight Transportation; Indonesia's Foreign Borrowing; and most recently - on The National Transport System (1997). Pak Siregar has received the following Awards and Recognition’s: Order National du Merit from the French Govt. (1987), and a medal, the Star of Specially Valuable Service Award in 1994.
