'Brothers and sisters, although we have many times made jokes about helpers and testing, we feel it is not out of place to continue making jokes on this subject.

Do not grasp metal objects whilst clasping exposed flex. If this happens, movement will arise within your body. You will have no choice other than to freely follow it. You will feel a lot of anxiety and will pay no heed to others around you. It is quite common to give voice to religious expressions at this time.
 

So it is clear that, since the jokes are about Subud, they come from none other than the Great Laugh Force which we have all received. That is to say, some of you have but perhaps for others you don't yet understand or appreciate what we are on about. So the thing to do is buy this book: buy several copies and give them to your friends: read it thoroughly and in time your true humour will be awakened, you will become funny in mind and body, there will arise an awareness within you of the nature of the various Jokes and you will be able to separate and combine them. You will develop a deeper understanding of your own humorous tradition, that is to say P. G. Wodehouse if you are English, Groucho Marx if you are American, and so on. There will be about you a spark that will attract other people and lead them to ask you. "I notice a ridiculous quality about you. Where does it come from?" You may then answer that it is not from you yourself, but you have received it from a level beyond your own conscious awareness. So it Is possible to be amusing in a way that you did not expect, for example when you are trying to be serious people laugh at you, particularly your wife and children. This is the basis and aim of the books that we have compiled but which not very many people have yet bought. We are not saying that it Is a sin, but it would be very disappointing If our next book only reached a few people here and there.'
